Geriatric Syndromes

The majority of older adults age well and are healthy however, a significant sub-group do not and are often termed “frail”. This group representing, perhaps less than 10% of all over 65 years of age are more likely to present “atypically” with acute illness with one or more of the following issues “confusion, falls, immobility, depression or incontinence”. This section provides an overview of frailty and these common issues.
