Age-Friendly Program Description
The AFC work is led by a community based organization/network. Timmins Age-Friendly Advisory Committee’s mandate includes voicing matters of concern from local seniors to the City, along with facilitating the implementation of the Timmins Age-Friendly Strategy. Their focus over the past two years has been decreasing social isolation (creating age-friendly events for Seniors, increasing access to events and marketing events/programs to their target population) and creating awareness about the committee. Timmins has created momentum with their Healthy Aging Expo, the launch of their Seniors Virtual Portal Hub, their Tech Social program and their summer-program called Generations of Gardening.
