Age-Friendly Program Description

Members of the municipal Pelham Senior’s Advisory Committee (PSAC) are appointed by and report to the Mayor and Town Council. PSAC consists of volunteer members, a liaison Councilor and administrative support by the Senior and Community Services Programmer.

The following are examples of the planning and implementation of community and regional based projects, as well as PSAC’s focus for their current term:

  2. The Senior Seminar and Social Series welcomes monthly speakers to provide information and connections on important topics including Osteoporosis, Healthy Eating, Community Support Services and more.
  3. Meridian Community Centre is designated as a Seniors Active Living Centre hosting active and social programs daily
  4. Annual Seniors’ Information and Active Living Fair at the Meridian Community Centre. PSAC is involved in both the planning and day of implementation of sharing information and resources, as well as connecting with the community to determine needs.
  5. Focus on introducing older adults to opportunities to help them stay both Active and Connected within the community.
  6. Continue to strengthen partnerships with Age-Friendly Niagara Network and other local Senior Advisory Committees.

Community Support & Health Services

  • Aging Well in Pelham (Regular events at the new Meridian Community Centre to 1) engage residents of Pelham in topics relevant to seniors through discussion and sharing of information and resources and 2) raise awareness of the Pelham Senior Advisory Committee and its mandate)
  • Staying Active Fair (Focused on physical activities, social activities and nutrition and wellness)
