Whether you have the disease or you are caring for someone who does, it is important to look after your general health as you face the challenges of dementia. Research shows that there are many things that you can do to enhance health and quality of life when living with dementia. Take charge to ensure that you are as healthy as you can be.

MANAGING MEDICATIONS

Medications, often referred to as drugs that work with your body and/or other medications to cure, treat or prevent health conditions. Medications include:
• prescription medication that must be ordered by a health care professional
• over-the-counter pills, liquids, or creams bought without a prescription, such as pills for headaches, chew tablets for heartburn, or herbal remedies
• vitamins, eye drops, or dietary supplements

Tell health care providers about ALL medications being taken, including those prescribed by other health providers or even drugs used every now and then.
