In 2019, the Age Friendly Citizen Advisory Committee was formed in Lincoln to create a vibrant, healthy, and diverse community where quality of life, inclusivity and aging well is supported through all stages of life.
The AFW Network completed the AFC Action Plan 2014-2017 and submitted its Final Report to the WHO in June 2017 accompanied as prescribed by a letter signed by the Windsor Mayor.
The AFC work is led by a municipal advisory committee. The Age Friendly Committee is in the very early stages of formation.
The committee aims to serve in an advisory capacity to City Council and staff on matters that impact the quality of life of senior citizens in the City of Welland as well as continue to follow and promote a strategic plan framework according to the World Health Organization’s “8 Domains of Livability”.
The AFC work is led by a multi-agency committee that is grass roots with a senior management staff person, volunteer driven, and has the mayor as part of committee.
The goal of the committee is to elevate the profile, level of leadership and engagement of seniors in the community.
