Charissa Levy ~ Executive Director – Rehab Care Alliance

Profile

Charissa Levy is Executive Director of the Rehabilitative Care Alliance, a provincial organization established by the 14 LHIN CEOs in 2013. She is an Occupational Therapist and has held clinical and leadership positions in healthcare for over twenty years.

Under Charissa’s leadership, the RCA has had a focus on the rehabilitative care needs of older adults since its inception. Key initiatives have included: development of a standardized provincial process to support direct admission to bedded rehab care from the community/ED, a pan-LHIN logic model and reports to the MOH highlighting key findings across Assess & Restore funded initiatives, pathways for accessing rehab care for older adults post-fall who present to the ED or primary care, inclusion of fall-related metrics and benchmarks into the provincial RCA scorecard, and most recently, development of a rehabilitative care best practice framework for older adults with frailty in collaboration with the PGLO.

Charissa is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto and in 2016 received the Society of Graduates’ Literary Award in Health Services, Policy and Management in recognition of her paper “Realizing the Potential of Rehabilitative Care for People with Complex Health Conditions: The Time Is Now”.
