End-of-life care includes palliative care and medical assistance in dying (MAID). The overall focus is to help improve quality of life, reduce or relieve physical and psychological symptoms, and help the individual have a more peaceful and dignified death while supporting family before and after death. (1) Palliative services are provided in hospitals, at home, in long-term care facilities and in hospices.
