Welcome to the Ontario Age-Friendly Communities e-learning: Modules to Support Planning, Implementation, Evaluation and Sustainability! This course was developed by the Ontario Age-Friendly Communities Outreach Program with funding from the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility. The content of this course is based on the provincial framework: Creating a More Inclusive Ontario: Age-Friendly Community Planning Guide for Municipalities and Community Organizations.
In this course, you will explore the concept of age-friendly communities and the four-step planning cycle. This course consists of six modules that can be completed at your own pace. The modules do not need to be completed in order, for example, if your community is at the stage of developing an action plan, you can start at Module 4. After each module, you will receive the option to access a certificate of completion.
This 6-Module course will lead you through the following phases of planning an Age-Friendly initiative:
- Module 1: Introduction to Age-Friendly Communities
- Module 2: Define Local Principles
- Module 3: Assess Need
- Module 4: Develop an Action Plan
- Module 5: Implement and Evaluate
- Module 6: Maintain Momentum and Sustain Success
Each of these Modules contain a number of Lessons that focus on a different aspect of building an Age-Friendly Community. By the end of the course, you will have a comprehensive understanding of what it means to create age-friendly communities and the strategies and approaches involved in making them a reality. We thank you for your efforts in making your community a more inclusive and supportive environment for people of all ages.
