Darrel O’Shaughnessy – Chair, Greater Arnprior Senior’s Council

Darrel is a husband, father, grandfather, and a Senior’s advocate which is evidenced by his ongoing Community volunteerism with both generations which he finds most stimulating and rewarding. And, according to Darrel, sports and recreation definitely helps build Community unity despite any age differences, and creates very special social and business network that may last a lifetime which is critical, particularly for our Youth.

Darrel currently serves as Chair of the Greater Arnprior Senior’s Council (GASC), serves on the Town of Arnprior’s Corporate Services Advisory Committee, the Senior’s Active Living Centre (SALC) Steering Committee, and was instrumental in successfully launching Canada’s 22nd Men’s Shed.

In the Summer of 2021 Darrel was named a Paul Harris Fellow by The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world. And, in the Fall of 2021 Darrel was presented the Province of Ontario Senior Achievement Award in recognition of his significant contribution to his Community after age 65 by Her Honour the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
