October 25, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Free
Description
This presentation is for professionals working in the public transportation sector and related fields.
A dementia-friendly community is a place where people affected by dementia feel included and supported. While creating dementia-friendly communities, individuals and organizations should focus on both the physical and social environments to ensure they are fully accessible.
During this presentation you will learn about the concept of dementia-friendly communities and be introduced to several resources to support you in creating public transportation that is dementia friendly. You will hear from Chris Chan, Travel Training Manager, Access Transit at Coast Mountain Bus Company about the work his organization is doing to make public transportation more accessible for people living with dementia. You will also hear from a person living with dementia about their experiences using public transportation. The session will conclude with an interactive panel.
