- Identify the phenomena of neuropsychiatric symptoms in patients with advanced major neurocognitive disorder
- Describe a behavioral approach for the management of patients with dementia with associated responsive behaviors
- Integrate the current evidence with respect to pharmacological treatment modalities for the management of the neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia

Dr. Vanessa Thoo

Dr. Vanessa Thoo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and a geriatric psychiatrist at the University Health Network and GeriMedRisk, with a focus on geriatric consultation-liaison and community and long-term care outreach. She is a member of the Canadian Academy of Geriatric Psychiatry Board of Directors, and is also on the Speakers’ Bureau for the Fountain of Health initiative for knowledge translation of the science of brain health and resilience. She received her medical degree from the University of Calgary, and completed her residency in Psychiatry at Dalhousie University, followed by subspecialty training in Geriatric Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. She has a Masters of Education in Curriculum Studies for Health Interprofessionals from Acadia University, and has had a number of educational roles at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and subspecialty level within the Department of Psychiatry.
