Description: Deprescribing refers to the reduction or discontinuation of medications that no longer confer more benefits than risks, or are inconsistent with goals of care. Deprescribing is a process that requires healthcare providers and the patient to have shared goals.
This presentation will discuss multiple medication use, also called polypharmacy and the process of deprescribing.

Shanna C Trenaman (she/her), BScH, BSc(Pharm), MAHSR, ACPR, PhD
Dr. Shanna Trenaman is a Postdoctoral Fellow with Geriatric Medicine Research. Shanna completed her BScPharm, MAHSR and PhD at Dalhousie University. She is an Accredited Canadian Pharmacy Resident, having completed her hospital pharmacy residency at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in affiliation with Dalhousie University. Dr. Trenaman is a licensed pharmacist in Nova Scotia; her research interests include polypharmacy, deprescribing, and sex- and gender-based differences in medication use.
