Workshop – Interventions for Memory and Aging (Day 1)

May 8, 2024 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Memory changes are a normal part of aging but can be a source of embarrassment, frustration, and worry to those who experience them. Baycrest offers training for clinicians and educators, and trainees who work with older adults with typical age-related memory changes. Past participants have worked in occupational therapy, social work, psychology, nursing, speech-language pathology, and related areas.

Note that these workshops **are not** designed to support clinicians working with older adults living with dementia, or other memory problems that interfere with independent functioning.

Day 1: Foundations workshop participants will learn how to deliver memory intervention with older adults coping with normal age-related memory changes. Learn how and why memory changes with age, and gain skills to promote cognitive health through lifestyle enhancement and memory strategy training. Content and examples drawn from the Baycrest Memory and Aging Program®.

**Additional practical training available**

Day 2: Memory and Aging Program Graduates of the Foundations workshop who are specifically interested in delivering the Baycrest Memory & Aging Program® in their own facilities may register for this full day extended practical training on May 15. Space is limited. Toolkit purchase is required. Bundle pricing available. Register separately at: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/day-2-memory-and-aging-program-train-the-trainer-workshop-registration-798915065467?aff=oddtdtcreator

Please note: Delivery of the Memory & Aging Program® workshop at your facility requires the additional purchase of the program toolkit, available at shop.baycrest.org. A 20% discount on all program materials is available to workshop registrants. An additional discount is available by purchasing the toolkit as an add-on to a Day 2 event registration.
