Tuesday, January 29, 2019 - 12 PM - 1 PM EST - Human Rights of Older Persons and Agenda 2030 is the first webinar by the International Federation on Ageing is a new series. The webinar will address key areas for implementation of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that ensure it fulfils its mandate for older persons. Presenters include Ken Bluestone, Head of Policy and Influencing, Age International, Erica Dhar, Director of Global Alliances, AARP, Cynthia Stuen, IFA Representative at the United Nations in New York, and Frances Zainoeddin, IFA Representative at the United Nations in New York. Thursday, January 31, 2018 12 PM - 1 PM (EST)Seeing Through the Veil: Experiences of Caring for Persons Living with Dementia at the End of Their Lives is an arts-based presentation by brainXchange, Alzheimer Society of Canada and the CCNA to present research findings through paintings and artistic works that healthcare professionals created when they were asked “What it is like to care for persons living with dementia who are receiving end-of-life care?". This research is intended to provoke and contribute to local and national end-of-life conversations with the intention of enhancing end-of-life care for persons and families living with dementia. Wed. Feb. 6, 2019 from 12-1PM EST. Join Greg Hirsh for this presentation where he will discuss preliminary work utilizing a more sensitive assessment tool to explore the relationship between more subtle degrees of frailty and cardiac surgery outcomes. Wednesday, February 6, 2019, 8:45 AM - 3 PM EST - The Waterloo - Wellington Annual Knowledge Exchange in Geriatrics will host "Living Beyond the Diagnosis", a day-long event covering how to incorporate a palliative approach to care. Dr. Daphna Grossman, MD CCFP (em) FCFP, will deliver a keynote on the intesection between geriatric care and a palliative approach to care. Thursday, Feb. 7th, 2019 from 11:45am - 4:00pm at the Ramada Kingston Hotel & Conference Centre this free expo is intended for Health Care Providers working with stroke survivors and caregivers across the continuum of care in the KFL&A area.  Lunch is provided and attendees will have an opportunity to network and learn about community agencies, programs and services that provide support to stroke survivors and their families.
