Coming from a background in education as a teacher, Margaret returned to school in 2017 as a mature student to complete the Therapeutic Recreation certificate program at Fleming College. Initially, she joined this field working with seniors, both as an Activationist at Fairhaven LTC in Peterborough and at the VON Adult Day Program.
For the past 2+ years Margaret has enjoyed her current role as Recreation Therapist at the Brain Injury Association Peterborough Region, utilizing the Therapeutic Recreation process to provide person-centered, strength and interest-based recreation and leisure opportunities that support and strengthen the independence of individuals with lived experience of both non-traumatic and traumatic acquired brain injury.
Margaret has also recently returned to her education background, working as a part time virtual professor teaching at Fleming College in the Recreation Therapist program.
