Speaker – Amy Brandt

Profile

Amy Brandt is a Community Initiatives Coordinator with the City of Brantford and has overseen a number of portfolios and initiatives including the Empowering Youth strategy, and Inclusive Communities initiatives. She is currently co-leading the Building Safer Communities Action Plan.

Amy graduated with an honours Bachelor of Social Work, and minors in Community Health and Indigenous Studies, from Wilfrid Laurier University where she received the Lyle S. Hallman Gold Medal for academic achievement in the Faculty of Social Work.

Prior to joining the City of Brantford, Amy worked in a variety of roles and settings including schools, community and various health care settings providing direct supports, advocacy and systems navigation supports to youth, older adults and individuals with disabilities. Through these roles Amy developed keen understanding of the needs of these populations, as well as the systemic barriers faced by each of them.
