Project Manager, Age-Friendly City, City of Hamilton
Speaker – Lisa Maychak
Lisa has been an employee with the City of Hamilton for 25 years. Since 2015, she has held the position of Project Manager, Age-Friendly City and is responsible for collaborating with the Hamilton Council on Aging (HCoA), Seniors Advisory Committee (SAC), other community partners and City staff to implement the 61 recommendations in Hamilton’s second Age Friendly Plan (Hamilton’s Plan for an Age-Friendly Community, 2021-2026).
Lisa is also the event lead for the Hamilton Senior of the Year Awards, which recognizes citizens over the age of 65 who have voluntarily contributed to the social, cultural, or civic life of the Hamilton community. Each year a gala event takes place hosting over 400 guests to honour and recognize the nominees and award recipients. This year marks the awards 29th! Lisa also coordinates the annual Seniors Kick-off event, an information and wellness fair for older adults. In 2023, this event welcomed over 400 participants and 60 exhibitors from the public, non-profit and private sectors
Lisa also holds the position of Staff Liaison for the City of Hamilton’s Seniors Advisory Committee, and co-leads Hamilton’s Seniors at Risk Community Collaborative.
Prior to her current position, Lisa held the position of Supervisor of Volunteers at Macassa Lodge, a 270-bed long-term care facility owned by the City of Hamilton.
In her spare time Lisa is a Board Director with the CANUSA Games, an annual international friendship games between Hamilton, Ontario and Flint, Michigan.
Lisa holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Waterloo and has completed additional professional development courses in project management, volunteer management, and event coordination.
