AFC Webinar – Leading & Learning with Pride: City of Toronto’s Revitalized Tool Kit for Supporting 2SLGBTQI+ Seniors
2SLGBTQI+ seniors navigate complex challenges as they age, including discriminatory policies in care settings, social isolation due to familial rejection or loss of chosen family, and providers who lack the knowledge necessary to deliver affirming support. To address these gaps, the City of Toronto Seniors Services and Long-Term Care (SSLTC) revitalized a training Tool Kit called Leading & Learning with Pride.
In this webinar, offered in collaboration with Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario, Dr. David Burnes will highlight his current research which explores the connection between ageism and abuse, with the goal of improving understanding of those “less talked about” factors that can hinder the age-friendliness of our communities.
